to the doctor again

Julianna wasn't getting better and had some new symptoms, so we headed back to the doctor today - he thinks she has type 1 herpes (explains the sores in her mouth and her fever). A significant chunk of the population (worldwide) is an asymptomatic carrier, so she could have picked it up anywhere. Many adults have antibodies to it, which explains why Matt and I have not gotten it, and Lydia is still getting my antibodies (lucky her!), so she is pretty safe. Still, it is very contagious.

It will "run its course" in a few weeks, the sores should get better and her fever should slowly subside too (its already better today than it has been). In the meantime, Julianna gets to eat lots of ice cream and benadryl can numb some of the discomfort.

She's snoozing now and Lydia just woke up for her afternoon snack! Gotta run....
