Friday night two college-age girls spent the night and we made cut-out sugar cookies. It was awesome. This is the second year in a row that I've invited some young grads to spend the night and give the oven a workout.
I'm gonna make it a tradition. It's way more fun to make cookies with all my little helpers when I have some big helpers in the kitchen too. And then after the little helpers go to bed we really get busy in the kitchen.
Saturday afternoon (when Daddy was back in town... cause we all know he is the real cookie-lover around this house!) we started the decorating.
You know we are getting older when even John Paul is a true cookie-decorator.
And Julianna makes beautiful Christmas trees all on her own :)
Now Luke, he is still a cookie-decorating-liability. After a few rounds with the icing we put him in charge of sprinkles. When he wasn't adding sprinkles he focused his efforts on slyly sneaking a finger into the frosting bowls and getting some good licks! And, of course, he's always ready to eat when the cookies get passed at the dinner table.
We shared a few dozen undecorated cookies with a friend (so her kids could get some decorating fun) and we've been eating them like crazy, and I still have tupperwares full of decorated cookies in the freezer! And tonight Matt said, "Maybe we should make another batch!"

Awesome cookies - and what a great way to have fun and make memories!
That looks like lots of fun! It's so humid here the cookies just fall apart. Our salt dough ornaments turned to mush! But just like Matt, Justin is always ready for more cookies!!
Cookie decorating liability! Oh little Luke, I love your spirit! (And I have one too!). Our days would be dull without you!
can't ever have to many red hots on cookies
keep putting on Luke

Thanks for the recipe - we made cookies yesterday but ate the first 12 before we could get the icing ready! The dough is chilling so we'll roll out some more today.
