where we are not going

We are not on the road to Kansas, we are not going to bring this little boy home.

Yesterday we learned that there might be a problem, and this morning the Lord confirmed that this was not the baby that he has for us.

I am sure you are curious and maybe want to know more details, but that's all we want to share for right now.  Know that we still care about this baby, and that it was ultimately the birth mother's decision to disengage from the adoption.

Adoptions fail.  Often.  We knew that, but it is still hard when it happens to you.  Yes, we still want to adopt, still hope to adopt.

Please ask God to comfort us (the kids too) and to give us confidence in Him as we move forward from here.

Laura, my heart broke for all of you when I read this! You're right in all that you say, but still it must be incredibly painful. I will pray for all of you this morning.

I know how excited you, Matt and the kids were about this baby boy. In the midst of heartbreak, it's hard to believe that the Lord always has a purpose. My prayer for you will be for strength and peace as you face the challenges before you.

Much love.

Melanie

We will be praying for you. We know that it is hard to not have things go like we hoped or planned, but you are right God does have it all in control and it will turn out better than we can imagine. Marc and Jennifer

We are so sorry to hear this news. We are asking God to comfort you with the peace that passes all understanding and that he would guard your hearts and minds against the lies of the devil. Know that He knows the name of the little one you will call your own. He sees each tear that falls and He hears you when you call out to Him. Take rest in Him for He cares for you! We love you and are praying with earnest!

Laura - really not sure what to say. I am deeply saddened for this loss. Know we are praying for you all and are (if not in presence) in spirit coming along side you to support you through this time. Will pray for comfort and discernment for you all - especially as you both face questions from the kids as they try to understand this.

Laura, my heart broke when I read your blog today. This has to be hard, and we will continue to pray for you and your family. But we are so thankful that your family was faithful to pray for this little boy with those construction paper strips: that he would like brownies, that he would grow up to love Jesus, etc. We know that God used you to stand in the gap for him. "'For I know that plans I have for you' says the Lord, 'They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.'" Dear ones, this is God's promise for you as a family AND for this precious little boy for whom you and so many others have been pressing in for months. God is honoring, and WILL continue to honor, the ways in which you have poured yourselves out for this child's sake and for the sake of His Kingdom. May God replenish and restore ALL that you have offered so willingly and graciously in His name. We love you so very much and are sitting along beside you on the mourner's bench.

Much love, prayers and blessings...
